System 1 Thinking
MetacognitionDefinition
Fast, automatic, intuitive thinking that operates without conscious effort. System 1 generates impressions, feelings, and inclinations that often become the basis for beliefs and choices.
How It Shows Up Internally
System 1 feels effortless and immediate. Conclusions seem to appear rather than be constructed. You might feel certain without being able to explain why, or have an immediate like/dislike reaction before consciously evaluating.
